Illinois Minority Business Development Agency Business Center

As part of the Illinois Minority Business Development Agency Business Center the Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting the Executive Director of the IL MBDA to provide services to high-growth MBEs with $500,000 and greater annual revenues by performing daily operational administrative duties.


  1. Schedules meetings with clients and answers phone calls professionally and promptly.
  2. Assists the MBDA Business Center Marketing Team in promoting the Illinois MBDA Business Center programs and services within the prescribed service area.
  3. Answers phone calls and directs people on how to become clients
  4. Manages the IL MBDA email inbox and events calendar.
  5. Manages calendars for the Project Director and President.
  6. Conducts intake of new clients to ensure forms are signed and clients are directed to the next step, per our processes
  7. Keeps the website updated with images, photos and posts about upcoming and past events.
  8. And other duties as required.

Education and Skills Required

  • Education: High School Diploma required, Associate Degree or Higher Preferred or equivalent work experience and education
  • Spanish speakers are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and, WordPress
  • Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and correctly.
  • Follow-up and follow-through are a priority.

This is a full-time position. Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Must be flexible and some in-state travel is required.
